Intro into Slides AI
Let’s face it—making presentations can be a pain. But what if you could skip the hassle and turn plain text into sleek, professional slides in no time? That’s exactly what Slides AI does. It’s a super handy tool that uses AI to do all the hard work for you. In this guide, I’ll show you how to get started with Slides AI and create presentations that’ll wow your audience without breaking a sweat. Ready? Let’s go!
What’s Slides AI All About?
Slides AI is like having a cheat code for making presentations. Instead of wasting hours messing with layouts and designs, you just pop in your text, and it turns it into sleek, professional slides—automatically.
It’s perfect for anyone who wants great-looking slides without the headache. Whether you’re working on a school project, pitching an idea, or just need a quick slideshow, Slides AI has your back. It’s fast, easy, and makes you look like a pro. Who doesn’t love that?
Now Let's Get Into The Tutorial
First you will have to go to their website Slidesai.io and navigate to “Install SlidesAI”. Note that you will have to install a Chrome Extension to use this AI. I do not find this to be a problem, even it can be viewed as a extra security for you. Google takes great care in terms of security, so extension based applications I do personally favor just for that reason.
Nothing difficult and out of the ordinary when installing this, just click next.
How To Generate The PowerPoint Presentation From Text
After the Extension is installed, we will not be using it actually as a regular extension from the top right side of the browser. We will simply go to http://slides.new where we will create our first blank presentation. Note that checking the URL and the environment itself, this AI is technically running on a Google Slides Presentation engine.
Next we will navigate to Extensions → SlidesAI.io – Create Slides With AI → Generate New Slides as shown in the Image below.
After that we get to the fun part, and where we can add some personalisation to the presentation we have in mind ( or not have ). What I mean by “not have” is that this tool can actually create it with very minimal effort on our end. As you will see on my example, I purposely gave it less material to work with, because I am lazy like that. Also, because I like smart tools, and like to have them do more of the work for me.
As I noted in the previous paragraph, I chose “Just the topic” for my example because I wanted to push the AI to it’s maximum potential. However, it is adaptable to the current state of your project. I can imagine that a person could already have generated a lot of text or bullet-points with ChatGPT for example. Then this texts or bullet-points can be fed into SlidesAI to create the presentation. Alternatively, it should actually be able to create a presentation from another source like a web page or video, but we will be testing that feature another time.
Here we can add some more customisation on what the type of presentation we want to give. Then we can select the audience type. Finally we can select the tone of voice/presenting style.
For my topic of presentation “How cool are leaf frogs” I chose what I believed to be the appropriate audience, but there is a wide choice and variations that one can select from.
The most important part for me personally was the “What else should we know”. I could give one suggestion to the developers – I believe this field maybe should not be optional. It gives context to what the user expects in addition to just the provided title. For example I really want a Leaf Frog as a pet. So naturally, my girlfriend does not like frogs – at all. To top it of, we have a cat that is maybe on the spectrum. So I need to consider these factors when I am making my presentation. Other points like how cool are leaf frogs and how they help mental health were a must-have for my case.
Next Steps And Customizations
Next we will look into other things that we normally consider when creating a presentation – the time we have to be presenting and are we generally looking to have less text, therefore “Presenting Live” or more text for “Sending To Read”. I imagine that the second option would be more practical for an educational presentation of some sort.
We should be considering how many slides we selected earlier. Also, what is the speed of your personal presenting. Some people present more engagingly and thus take more than the average presenter’ speed time. However, If you are like me – a nervous type of presenter, you will actually forget most of your text and finish earlier than expected.
Slides Review And Editing or Additions
On the next step we are finally shown the slides outline. Namely, the Heading of each slide and the context of what to expect within the slide itself. There are options (highlighted in the image above) to edit topics or regenerate a slide, but in my case I did like what was generated.
Note from earlier that I gave instructions on what I was expecting as topics. Well, they seem to be covered – There is a slide called “Why leaf frogs are awesome”, and “Spreading love for leaf frogs” seems to be a slide to help convince my girlfriend why we should get one. Finally, on the next image you will also see “Keeping Leaf frogs Safe at Home” slide, which does cover the concern I prompted regarding having a naughty cat.
Next I only did want to add another slide, not because I actually needed it but only to test the function.
Design Choices within SlideAI and Image Generation Feature
Next we get to chose what will be the slides design and what images will be used. I strongly recommend the AI generated images, because they are cool! No, in all seriousness you can select what you deem appropriate for your project, but I like AI generated images, so that was my personal preference. Although, there is a small risk when crating AI generated images, and that is if there is any text on them. AI Image generators sometimes do put words in the pictures, and the words are more often than not – unreadable.
Finally, we have the presentation created. Now we can optimize it or change it up however we like. In my case, I did like the end result with two exceptions that needed to be updated – the front page did not have an image of a frog. I did not specify this in my prompt, so we cannot fault the AI. This actually gives me opportunity to use one of the other features of this tool and that is Image generation. As shown in the above picture, there is again a prompt , image style and number of generations.
Note that this is the free version, so I had about 3 images total of generation which is not bad actually. It is a free tool after all.
I must point out how impressive the quality of the image is, and it did generate for me exactly what I wanted – a cute leaf frog. Maybe just a bit too feminine.
Final Touches
Once my slides are generated, it’s worth taking a moment to fine-tune them. I did check for consistency in font sizes, colors, and overall layout to make sure everything looks polished. You might also want to tweak the design to better match your audience or the tone of your presentation. But in my case it was just as what I expected.
Another personal advice for making good presentations – If Slides AI includes suggested images or graphics, double-check that they align with your content. Adding a personal touch, like your own branding, logo, or custom visuals, can also help make the presentation feel more unique. Finally, run through the slides as if you’re presenting, ensuring the flow feels natural and logical.
Conclusion
Slides AI takes a lot of the hassle out of creating presentations by automating the design process and organizing your text into slides, or even generating it for you from scratch. It’s a handy tool for anyone who needs a quick way to turn ideas into visuals. While it’s not a complete replacement for personal creativity or detailed customization, it’s an excellent starting point when time or resources are limited. Most of all, it saves A LOT of time. By turning text into visuals, Slides AI allows users to focus on the content and message they want to convey rather than getting bogged down in the design aspect. This can be especially helpful in a professional setting, where delivering a polished presentation efficiently is crucial. The ability to quickly transform written content into engaging visuals can make a significant difference in the impact of a presentation. Furthermore, the convenience of turning text into visuals with Slides AI allows for easy collaboration and sharing of presentations with colleagues and clients. The ability to create professional-looking slides in a fraction of the time it would take to do manually also means increased productivity and efficiency in the workplace. Overall, Slides AI provides a valuable solution for turning text into visuals, streamlining the presentation creation process and improving the overall quality of presentations.
